Distress Ink Backgrounds

I have a few cards to share that I made for family birthdays and ones on which I created my own backgrounds using distress inks.
This first one I created for our granddaughter Aimee s 16th Birthday.
The sea horse went to a son in law and the lighthouse to father in law.

Copy Cat Card

Hello All

This is a card I made a while back but wanted to share with you.
I received this beautiful card for my birthday last year from one of my aunts back in Holland and just loved it, and wanted to try and replicate it.

 This is my version,
I inked a piece of white cardstock top and bottom, stamped added some stamping with a swirly wooden stamp that I've had for ages and not used very ,much.
The lovely lady image I found on the internet somewhere and layered her over one of my Venice photos using Paint Shop Pro.
The other three small images on the left hand side I also searched the internet for, some rolled roses using the Di-namics Royal rose die, a butterfly and flower embellishment from my stash.
The sentiment layer was cut freehand.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Turning fifteen

Our granddaughter Asha is turning 15 on the 12th of this month, I was so pleased to be able to make a girlie card for her, out of our 5 granddaughters Asha is the only one that I would be able to make something real girlie for. I hope she likes it.

It was done by stamping the GinaK Design stamps onto the pink card-stock with a versamark stamp pad and heat embossing with white embossing powder.
A tiny ribbon and some even tinier black gems and its all ready to go.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, I really appreciate it.

Spellbinders labels used was number eight.

I'm going to enter her into the Totally Gorjuss Challenge 96 its a sketch Challenge.

Easel Swap

Hello My lovely Blog readers.

This card was made for a swap in the PENNY FLOWERS and Paper Crafts group I belong to.
Its been received now so I can show it to you.
The shapes were cut with a bookatrix board (which my lovely friend Angie cut for me) thank you Angie.
Angie is the owner of PENNY FLOWERS and Paper Crafts.
I added some Glitzin' glamour glitter glue around the edges of all the layers after I had sponged them with Memento Angel Pink.
The stamp is from Mo's Digital Pencil called Sinatra but in this case his name is Olly.
I coloured him with copics.
The roses are the Ultimate Rose designed by Angie and made by me and the leaves are Sizzlits Little Leaves.

Hi

Hi...........

This is another card made for FatCatsCardCorner using the Nellie Snellen Round Lily Multiframe Die set.
After cutting out the frames I then cut the centres out using circle nesties so I could lay them over my focal image and sentiment layer.
The flower is from the Basic Grey stamp set Sweet Threads and I stamped it three times, coloured it with Prisma pencils, added some glitter with a Sakura Clear Star pen, which doesn't really show up in my pictue, and then cut out different parts of the flower and layered them with dimensional tape.
For the background I cut out squares from two different designer papers from Kaisercrafts Empire Collection ( I've had these two sheets for some time so its probably not still available), and inked the edges with black Memento ink.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Santa's Sleigh

I know no one wants to even think about Christmas yet, but here are two cards I have made with the Marianne Creatable die Santa's sleigh available from FatCatsCardCorner.

For this one I printed out some Jingle Bells sheet music from the web and distressed the edges, stuck it to the next layer which I edged with my versamarker pen and then heat embossed with some super fine gold embossing powder. The same was done to the sentiment layer and the stamped sentiment.
I also gave the top part some of the same treatment.

For this next one I tried my hand at some inking with sponges and a circle cut from a postal note to make a moon and a group of trees stamped with black memento ink and then without re inking stamped them again upside down.

60th Birthday

My husband John had a 60th Birthday that went on for almost two weeks, my eldest daughter and I organised a party for him which we had on the 9th of July his actual birthday was on the 14th.

The reason it went on for so long is that our other two children and grand children came down from NSW for the two weeks to celebrate it with him, which was wonderful, but now that they have all gone back home again we miss them so badly all over again.

Below is the card/book I made for him, I didn't have time to take photos before giving it to him (I was still trying to finish it while the children were all here), so I've  taken photos now and blurred out all the messages written to him.
This was a cheap little cardboard/chipboard book I bought and covered with papers and then decorated with different stamps and die cuts, a little brass frame which holds a photo of our three beautiful children.
Some of the embellishments like the DAD letters, hammer etc. were recycled from cards given to their dad on fathers day.
All seven grandchildren wrote special messages to their Pa which I put into the envelope I made to hold them.

Doggy Tails

The doggy stamp was coloured with Faber-Castell coloured pencils, then cut out with the standard circles large nestability and then layered onto the petite scalloped circles large.
The back ground layer was done with a Fiskares texture plate cut into squares and inked and distressed around the edges then machine sewn.

I paper pierced around the edges of both the white nestie  layers.
The leafy branches are a Creatables die and available from FatCats.
The border punch is Martha Stewarts Doily Punch.
The designer papers also came free with a magazine.

Thank you for checking in today.

I have also used the leaf die on the inside of the card.

A little Birdie told me

I was going to say good Morning, but here it is mid afternoon already, so good afternoon to you.

I have coloured this cute Penny black stamp, (check out those chunky little legs), from FatCats, with copic ciao markers, I then added some dimensional magic to her jewellery and the hearts on the bird cage stand.
I have distressed all the edges on the stamped image and the sentiment layers then added some star dust stickles to the edges as well.
The sentiments were computer generated.

Chloe's Koi

Hello Blogging friends,
My 13 year old grand daughter Chloe gave me a drawing she did of some Koi fish and as I needed to make a 40th Birthday card for her dad, I thought why not use her beautiful drawing, so I have made it into a digital stamp and coloured it very simply with Prisma pencils and OMS.
Then used it again to make the background paper added some eyelets and inked the edges and a card for her dad was born.

50 Years in Australia

The husband of one of my husbands Aunts is celebrating living in Australia for 50 years, he originally came from Ireland, and she asked me to make a card for her to give to him, but when I asked her if she had any ideas as to what she would like on the card, the answer was "no do whatever you like" well it wasn't easy but this is the card I came up with.

Card for a Wise Man

I'm back today with a card for my Favourite sister in laws husband, who is turning 60 at the end of the month.
I stamped the owl twice and layered the eyes beak and body, some dimensional magic on the eyes and beak and some 3D paint on the swirls of the body.
A bit of machine sewing and inking around the edges and I would have liked to put some eyelets at either end of the sentiment layer but didn't have a colour to match and it needs to go into the mail today so it has to do without.

Gorjuss Girl

I love these little Gorjuss Girls, Suzanne Woolcott is the wonderful artist, who unfortunately has not been well and is now struggling to keep doing her beautiful little girls.

For this card I decided not to colour her in, instead I paper pieced her dress, boots and the heart in her hair to which I also added some dimensional magic.
The embossed background is a new embossing folder from Craft concepts called Budding Vine ( these folders emboss sooooo beautifully), I wiped a one inch ink pad very gently over the top of the embossing to give it some colour.
