Happy birthday 13 year olds

I've been so neglectful of my Blog for which I apologize.
We did go away for just over a week though to check up on hubby's elderly parents who had been feeling a little under the weather.

The cards below I made for two of our grand children who are both turning 13 this month, a day apart in fact.

For Billy I did a paper embroidery card while in Adelaide staying with my sister in law.
I stitched the steam engine onto white leather look card stock and then coloured it in, I quite like the textured look it gave me.
A few brads and some green wrapping paper and my card was finished.

For Aimee's card I decided to use a large letter A and then made up the background using all words I could think of that started with A and meant  your Awesome or cool.
I ran the letter A through the Swiss dots embossing folder and  the border running down the side is the Martha Stewart string lace border punch as is the strip going across the centre of the card.
A couple of punched stars (Fiskars squeeze punch) sewn on with a little heart button.
Leaves and Happy Birthday are Marianne Creatables dies.
Everything was distressed with Memento Rich cocoa.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit, I really do appreciate it.
Hugs...............

These Boots were..........

...........made for walking but I'm not sure I could walk in those heels.............  :)

Hi Everyone.

I decided to go back to where I started with card making with this card which was Paper Embroidery.

I got some new Bookmark stitching patterns from Stitching Cards.com and decided to use the boot pattern twice on a card front instead of as a bookmark.
I didn't really like the pattern of the inside of the boots so just stitched the outside with a glitter metallic thread, I don't know why I chose that thread because I really don't enjoy stitching with it...........oh wait, yes I do it was the only brown colour thread I had that matched, and then I paper pieced the inside with some rather fancy double sided wrapping paper I picked up on special somewhere a while ago.
Some hand made flowers and a couple of ribbons and it was all placed on a mat made with the Martha Stewart Cherish Combo punch set.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and leaving a comment I love hearing from you.

More Stitching

Hello Everyone.

While I was stitching the back to basics card, I remembered how relaxing it is to do the stitching in front of the television in the evening, so I've made another one but using modern tools this time like the Spellbinder Lotus Pendant Die and the Rose Creations Die.

Thank you for taking the time to visit today.

Back to Basics

Hello Everyone.

The online craft group that I belong to and moderate for, Penny Flowers and Paper Crafts has a theme and a technique each month and this month it was to create a card without using any of the dies, punches score boards etc. that are available today.
We could use a ruler, craft knife and we were allowed to use the computer.
So I went back to where I started with card making and that was Paper Embroidery.
I used a pin to prick my stitching pattern instead of a pricking tool, I used my pastel pencils to do the bit of colouring instead of ink pads and I cut my card layers with a ruler and craft knife which until recently I always did anyway.

Another view.

Thank you for taking the time to visit today.

Hi

Hi,

My stitched hedgehogs are from Stitching Cards and I have stitched them onto a large Nestability circle, then after stitching, put them back into the die to sponge some Memento Angel Pink around the little critters.
Behind the circles I have put one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2, from FatCatsCardCorner which fitted perfectly behind the circle without having to cut them.

For Paula

My daughters best friend is turning 40 and this is the card I made for her (the Circles are stitched on beads), it ended up being a bit rushed towards the end because I had to have it finished when my daughter came to collect her girls, they are having a surprise dinner for her tonight. I'm surprised I remembered to take a photo of it, I usually forget when I'm under pressure to get it done. It's school holidays here in Australia and we have had the pleasure of Chloe and Aimee's company while mum and dad are at work, I took them shopping this afternoon and we only got back a few minutes before their mum came to collect them.

Tidying Up

I really am very bad at keeping my Blog updated, I must be more consistent.
We were away for a week, for the 80th Birthdays, (my card to them went down well and MIL decided everyone who was there had to sign it, I feared for my flowers but I think they survived it okay),and then I decided to rearrange my craft room which left me in a bit of a mess but determined to finish up all the partially done cards, the result of which you see here.

Stitched 3D

Today I am showing a card that has a technique that first got me into making my own cards, and is still one of my favourites, and one that I will always go back to.
This card was made for another online friend.
Actually there are two techniques on this card the one I was referring to is the stitching the other of course is 3D or Paper Tolle.

I thought I would share with you two of my cards featuring a decorative pin, they are such a lot of fun to put together, and they needn't cost you a lot of money to buy the bits and pieces needed to make them.
My ever generous friend Angie sent me some bits to get me started which also helped me to look out for the things I needed to buy.

Card with Beads

Here's a card I have made for a "Card with Beads" swap, I resized the stitching pattern to make it smaller, which meant I had to find beads small enough to fit and luckily I had these that I had  purchased last year while in Berlin.
